Went on a drive yesterday to clear our heads and see the countryside. Did a loop through the east bay for some big box shopping then on across the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge over into Marin and along Sir Francis Drake to the coast except for a little detour though Nicasio. Then down the 1 with a little side tour through Bolinas and out Mesa Rd. to the Point Reyes National Seashore. After that we shot back to town to do a little shopping at TJ’s and on home from there. It’s good to get out there and remind ourselves how lucky we are to live here.

So this blog’s been up for quite a while now and I’ve yet to make a real post on it. Considering that we pay for the damn thing I may as well get started and use it for something other than a jumping off point to our flickr account. So…. Lifes been pretty busy lately as it always seems to be and in spite of the fact that I only just returned from abroad I’m already in need of another vacation. Work’s a thankless mind numbing exercise in repetition and while I fight the urge to walk out the door halfway through my shift almost daily, it’s a half-decent gig considering that we have three days off together and dont have to hire a sitter for Isa. It’s hard not to look for purpose in your daily routine though and I’m forever frustrating myself when I don’t find any satisfaction in what I do. Sure there are  moments when I feel little spurts of satisfaction when i do what i do well but all too quickly wilts to a mild embarrassment that it even came to me in the first place. Thankfully though business has been pretty brisk in spite of the economy and we’ve been reviewed very well in numerous magazines which explains our top 10 rank in reservations. Funny how I’ve found myself doing the very thing that i’m probably have the least nack for. And not so funny that I’ve painted myself into a corner and am now faced with a milder case of the “strippers dilemma”  wherein I’ve developed a lifestyle that depends on the amount of money I make but now that I’ve reached the dead end of it,  have to backtrack financially in order to pursue another path./p>

sigh.

Aside from the above things are pretty damn great on the home front. Isa has been as impressive as ever and these past few days have been sunny and warm. We’ve been out on the deck a lot during the day and this morning we found some little splinters in both of her feet. I feel a bit crappy about that but she doesnt seem to mind much and she loves being outside. We try to make it to the park every other day or so to do some swinging. While we’re at home we practice walking the walk and talking the talk. She’s gettin there on both fronts too. She’ll stand on her own nowadays for about 20 seconds or so and shes showing alot more interest in saying things like “bring on the boobies, i’m famished.” and “there’s crap in my pants. please remove it.”  We took a little day trip last week to Tennesee Beack up in Marin and I’ve posted a few pictures if anyone’s interested.

Big Week April 29, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — natalnarrative @ 9:22 pm

Whew, we have a big week ahead of us. Not only do we have the baby shower, family and friends coming into town and a birthday bash in Delores Park to celebrate a certain alchi’s bday we all love, but now I am seriously considering not working much longer. This is in response to the most intense Braxton-Hicks to date that have been rendering me useless at my place of employment (on my feet a ton!!) So, the disability mark is just around the corner for me. There are good and bad things to say about this, for the bad the cut in pay which is about 50 percent…at least, is why Ive attempted to keep going to the very last possible moment. The good is of coarse that I will not have to deal with the frustration of not being able to keep jetting about like Im accustomed to doing pre prego days. I’ve grown a whole new sympathy for those whose minds are intact but their bodies are slowed down because of a disability. I see volunteer work in my future.

So, that being said. Moving on to the fun stuff, the baby shower. For those of you who did not receive an invitation via snails mails…and sorry for that, I did my very best to get them out timely and such but it has not been an easy feet, for many reasons. One including a death, the other a lost job…Don’t even get me started. All I can say is there were plane tickets for one and now lawyers involved for the other…..

The address is 1330 Guerrero St San Francisco Ca….Google maps are great for directions, Imma not so great at directions. (There, I am finally admitting it…) The party is at noon, we will be providing food and drinks, but welcome both to add to the festivities and family atmosphere….mmm potluck.

So thank you, and also thank you to Aunt Cindy for her input on the immunizations. We are for protecting the baby from horrible experiences like those you and your sister had to go through, and feel just splitting up the shots but not avoiding them all together is what we will opt to do.

Have a great day all. And take your vitamins.

Immunizations April 13, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — natalnarrative @ 8:10 pm

Today, Sunday April 13Th, was supposed to be dedicated to attending the BAHC Immunization Panel right here in the city. It occurs once a year and has not only representatives from the western medical arena, but also a range from eastern thought and in between. It has been an important area of study for us, the immunizing process. I personally feel less inclined to trust our medical system because of its roots in capitalism, the pharmaceutical companies interest in money oriented business even to the demise of the patients. There are so many examples of this in even child birthing I could drop an entire thesis right here. So, I am skeptical to shoot up our little johnny or mary on the way (not a real hint at our name choices…) with anything some half-interested practically politician accepting bribes md might suggest. And with the rise of autism, 1 in 150 children, my skepticism is not without merit, nor does it suggest Ive been san francisco-ed.

We are unable to attend, because of our need to pack before an emergency call out of town…So, besides our research, I wanted to open the discussion up with all of you. I know many people who are refraining from any immunizations, Im not sure I feel totally comfortable with that, considering part of Nick and my future plans definitely involve traveling out of the country. The panel I was hoping would shed light on what might be necessary and what is superfluous. I know that splitting up the mmr and waiting until the child is approx 4-5 years old before we administer them is crucial because of brain development. I guess I’m just trying to gather more information on the other key points.
